Shinseki announced a critical step forward in providing an easier process for Veterans seeking health care and disability compensation for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). (07/12/2010) Disaster Drill Prepares Us for the Real Thing - It was only a drill, but the threat of such a disaster specifically here along the Wasatch Front is very real. On June 9, 2010 the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System took the lead on "Wasatch Reception 2010": a full-scale exercise to evaluate our emergency response capabilities. Shinseki announced the establishment of a new telephone hotline to provide emergency support and resources to homeless Veterans. (06/03/2010) Race for the Cure - The Women's Clinic from the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System participated in the Susan G. Comen Foundation's "Race for the Cure." (05/14/2010) The Salt Lake City VA Medical Center Aids Ironmen and Ironwomen in St. George - The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System was proud to be a part of a multi-agency emergency response exercise that provided much needed medical services for the St. George Ironman competition. (05/12/2010) Fisher House - A Home Away from Home - The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. Because members of the military and their families are deployed worldwide and travel great distances for their specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes", built on the ground of major military and CA medical centers. This gathering is not about a particular faith; however, it is about spirituality. (01/05/2010) 2009 VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City Breaks Ground on New Outpatient Mental Health Clinic - A ground breaking ceremony for the new Outpatient Mental Health Clinic was recently held at the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The new facility will be a 32,000 square foot building with three floors and 95 consultation rooms. The first appointment in the new building should be some time in January of 2011.
