12/14/2010 - FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Fairchild's Outdoor Recreation Center is geared to serve yearound.

"We offer outdoor recreation opportunities for anybody any time of year," said Ryan Murphy, Out Door Recreation Center assistant director. "In the winter we have gear to go out to the mountains and during the summer, we have equipment to rent at our 34-acre lake resort, Clear Lake."

They offer recreational equipment rentals, home maintenance equipment rentals, trips, equipment maintenance, passes to local recreational facilities and activities, all at reduced rates.

"We're a one-stop shop for the stuff you need to go play outside," Mr. Murphy said.
Rentals:

· Snow equipment including: snow boards, ski and snow board boots, snow pants and jackets, ski helmets, snow shoes, sleds, ice axes, as well as snowmobiles trailers.
· Boating equipment including: canoes and kayaks, and pontoon, hunting, deck, fishing, and ski boats.
· Boat accessories including: duck blinds, goose/duck decoys, trolling motors, knee boards, water skis, wake boards, tubes, fishing rods and reels, and external break controllers.
· Trailers
· Camping gear to including: backpacks, chairs, grilling supplies, ice chests, cots, hatchets, lanterns, sleeping bags and tents.
· Sports equipment rentals including: bicycles, golf clubs, horseshow sets, and tennis, volleyball, basketball, croquet, bocce ball, and softball gear.
· Home, lawn and garden equipment including: aerators, thatchers, edgers, fertilizer, mini-tiller, lawn mowers, post hole digger, rototiller, pressure washers, weed eater, hedge trimmers, hoes, limb saws, pruning/lopping shears, rakes, shovels, sledge hammers, cement mixers, generators, and wheel barrows.
· Paintball equipment including: markers, masks, air bottles, air fills and paintballs
· Outdoor storage
· Vehicle sales lot spaces
· Winter cabins
· Summer cabins
· Campsites
· Campers
· Packages are included for sporting gear

"If it's outdoor recreation related, we either have it or we can tell you were to find it and if we have it, it's probably cheaper here than you'll find it anywhere else," he said. "Our goal is not to make a lot of money, it's to maintain a self-sustaining recreation center for people on base."

The center also has an outdoor adventure program, which offers reduced rates for outdoor trips and classes in the Inland Northwest.

Upcoming trips for the month of January are:
· Jan. 8 - Ice climbing
· Jan. 15 - Snowmobile trip
· Jan. 22 - Ski bus trip to 49 Degrees North
· Jan. 29 - Ski bus trip to 49 Degrees North

They also offer wholesale prices through their sportsman's center, which has a federal firearms license and can order most rifles, shotguns, pistols and accessories at wholesale prices, Mr. Murphy said.

"Our primary purpose is being in the business of making vacations," he said. "Our job is to help you have fun."

The Out Door Recreation Center is open Mon. - Fri. 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sat. 7 a.m. - 12 p.m., and is closed Sundays and holidays. For more information, call 247-5920.
