LTC Whit Wright

Lieutenant Colonel Whit Wright was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry in 1995 after graduating from Duke University. LTC Wright’s first assignment was with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. From 1995 to 1999, he served as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Company XO, and HHC XO in 3-15 IN.

LTC Wright was assigned to the Headquarters, 82d Airborne Division in 2000. He served as the G3, Deputy Plans Officer and later as the Regimental Plans Officer for the 505th PIR. LTC Wright assumed command of Alpha Company, 1-505 PIR in 2002 and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2003, he became the Commander of the 82d Airborne Division’s Long Range Surveillance Detachment, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. LTC Wright served as Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General of the 82d Airborne Division from 2004-2005.

After attending schools at the Army Command and General Staff College, LTC Wright returned to the 82d Airborne Division in 2007, where he served as the Chief of Plans for CJTF-82 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. He was subsequently assigned to the 504th PIR where he served as the Squadron S-3 and XO for 3-73 CAV and deployed again in support of OIF.

LTC Wright earned a BA in Political Science from Duke University. He holds a Master of Military Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies.

Whit and his wife, Kelly, have two daughters – Hadley (5) and Kate (1).
