Career Description

Imagine being responsible for millions of dollars worth of equipment and thousands of lives. That's what life is like for Air Traffic Control Operations specialists. Working as part of a close-knit team, you'll manage the flow of air traffic on the ground and in 50,000 square miles of air space. And since you'll be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, you'll be able to work anywhere in the world we fly.

Career Tasks

• Provide a safe, orderly and expeditious flow of aircraft at the airport, as well as in the air
• Learn to use two-way radio communications, radar systems with associated computer equipment, landline communication systems and visual light-gun signals
• Offer emergency assistance to aircraft and be responsible for notifying and coordinating with emergency personnel
• Observe weather conditions and assist aircraft during periods of bad weather with the use of radar, instrument landing systems and various types of airfield lighting

Training
