Financial Aid for International Students

Financial Aid for International Students

While the amount of available financial aid varies by institution, aid is available for international students in the United States who put in the effort to obtain it, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The article reports that Eric Furda, dean of admissions at the University of Pennsylvania, said that there are two questions international students must ask themselves in regards to financial aid: “1. Will applying for aid as a non-U.S. citizen or permanent resident impact my admissions decision? 2. If admitted, what will my financial aid package look like from the perspective of grants, loans, and any potential gap to meet the full cost of attending the school?”

If you are interested in applying for financial aid in the United States, speak with your designated school official. Also, check your tax responsibility with your school if you do receive scholarship money.
