Two new selections from the Airmen of Note are now available for download from our website. The tunes are "Up on the Housetop" (arranged by Master Sgt. Alan Baylock), and "Auld Lang Cha Cha Cha" (arranged by Senior Master Sgt. Joe Jackson).


Air Force Strings Send "Holiday Notes from Home"

On October 26th, the Air Force Strings traveled to Nashville, joining the Band of the Air Force Reserve (Robins AFB, Ga.) for "Holiday Notes from Home"--a production that featured guest artists Amy Grant and Take 6. The live concert taping, emceed by radio and television personalities Lorraine Cook and Charlie Chase, will be broadcast across the globe via the Armed Forces Network throughout the holidays. The one-hour program will reach tens of thousands of service members and their families, bringing them a little closer to home during the holiday season.

Veterans Day: Honoring those who Served

On a chilly, rainy November morning, the Concert Band took part in the Veteran's Day observance at Arlington National Cemetery. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden attended the observance, and the thousands in the audience included hundreds of military veterans and their families. Despite the unfavorable conditions, the humbling occasion proved to be a fitting tribute to those who served.

The Traveling Musician

Traveling is one of the most exciting parts of my job as a cellist in the Concert Band. We have the distinguished honor of representing the very best of the United States Air Force to the American public. For many that attend our concerts, it is the first (and perhaps, only) time that they have heard The USAF Band. With the right preparation as a traveling musician, you can enjoy the concert experience without the stresses associated with being far away from home.

Band Hosts Clarinet Ensemble Festival



On November 7 and 8, 2009, The United States Air Force Band hosted the 5th Annual Clarinet Ensemble Festival. This event brought clarinet ensembles from around the nation together for a weekend of performances and panel discussions. The Festival Director was Mitchell Estrin, professor of clarinet at the University of Florida. More than 150 students, military members, and industry professionals attended the two-day festival.

Celtic Aire to Deploy



Celtic Aire, comprised of four members from the Singing Sergeants, will deploy to forward locations overseas in December for two months. The group has been in existence since 2007, and has been featured at the White House, as well as at diplomatic dinners around the National Capitol Region. This is the first deployment for Celtic Aire.
