Data Format Information

BUFR

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) code form FM 94 BUFR (Binary Universal Form for the Representation of meteorological data) is a binary code designed to represent, employing a continuous binary stream, any meteorological data. There is, however, nothing uniquely meteorological about BUFR. The meteorological emphasis is the result of the origin of the code. The code form may be applied to any numerical or qualitative data type.

BUFR formatted hourly profiler data are sent to the National Weather Service Telecommunications Gateway (NWSTG) and to the WMO's Global Telecommunications System (GTS)

RAOB (text Dump)

Radiosonde Observation (RAOB) formatted text is similar to the format used by the National Severe Storms Forecast Center (NSSFC) in Kansas City. NPN and CAP data can be downloaded from our NPN/CAP Data Displays.

Profiler Support

SARSAT Turn-off Schedule Downloads

404 MHz profiler systems require a SARSAT Inhibit Schedule to operate. The PCC, working with the SARSAT Program Office, generate and provide SARSAT turn-off schedules for all NPN sites as well as several non-NPN 404 MHz radars. The SARSAT Download Page provides the means for users to download SARSAT schedules via FTP.

Profiler Initial System Setup Parameters

NPN radars have sets of parameters that must be properly configured for the radar to function properly. Some of the parameters change periodically. This page allows users to download the current parameter set for a specific profiler site.

PMT Software

The Profiler Maintenance Terminal (PMT) is a DOS based program that allows on-site technicians to interact, interrogate, and configure the profiler system.

MDS Graphical Display Software

The Monitor Display Station (MDS) is a 16-bit Windows application that captures the RS-232 serial data form the profiler and enables technicians to view the data in a graphical format while at the profiler site.

Guide to LRU Replacement

The Guide to LRU Replacement provides comprehensive procedures for the replacement and calibration of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) at NPN sites. Due to the proprietary material contained in these documents, your domain must be *.gov to download these files.
