Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of compression ignition engine fuel spray, combustion, and emissions using high-performance computing (HPC). Performance tools will be used to identify bottlenecks in current engine simulations (load imbalances, I/O problems, memory constraints, etc.). Work on ALCF computing resources as part of a multidisciplinary team involving engine modelers and computational scientists to enhance the predictive capability of engine modeling codes.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Considerable
Considerable knowledge of multi-dimensional code development (in Fortran/C/C++) for combustion applications, internal combustion engine theory and operation, and parallel scientific computing is required (MPI, OpenMP).
  Good
Good understanding of turbulent combustion modeling is desired. Good knowledge of high performance computational science of large scientific codes is desirable Good collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with other divisions, laboratories, and universities. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  Some
Some experience in interdisciplinary collaborative research is desirable.

The postdoctoral position is limited to 3 years.
