Sixth Defendant in Airport Baggage-Theft Case Pleads Guilty

Summary

Onelio Vento, the last of six defendants charged with conspiracy to use his airport security badge to steal items from the luggage of British Airways passengers, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Miami. The defendants were employees of Aircraft Services International Group, an airport contractor that loaded and unloaded luggage for British Airways at Miami International Airport. Vento is scheduled for sentencing on April 30. The other five defendants will be sentenced on April 11. OIG conducted the investigation with the Miami-Dade Police Department, U.S. Customs Service, and British Airways.
