Oklahoma Aviation Mechanic Sentenced to Pay $57,500 in Case involving Improper Engine Overhauls

Summary

On March 24, Michael Redpath, an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certified mechanic, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City, OK. Redpath’s sentence included the payment of $57,500 in restitution, 90 days home confinement and, 5 years probation for concealing his knowledge of false statements made in connection with unapproved repairs that he and others made to Lycoming aircraft engines. Subsequent FAA and Lycoming inspections disclosed that some engine parts were not airworthy, and that the FAA had issued notifications on suspected unapproved parts. The ongoing investigation is being conducted jointly with DCIS, the FBI, and FAA.
