September 08, 2003

Summary

Robert J. McClafferty, a commercial trucker, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia to 10 counts of falsifying his hours-service-logs. McClafferty, a truck driver for Ontelaunee Transport Services Inc. (OTSI), was indicted on July 31 with six other OTSI drivers, the company dispatcher, and company. McClafferty falsified his driver’s logbook on almost a daily basis to hide the fact he was violating FMCSA’s hours-of-service regulations, intended to protect the public from the danger of motor carrier accidents caused by driver fatigue. McClafferty is scheduled to be sentenced on December 16.
