Pilot Sentenced for Fraudulent Airman Medical Certificates

Summary

Oley David Gerhardt of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Ft. Lauderdale for falsifying personal information and his Social Security number on his FAA airman medical certificates. He was sentenced to 6 months in jail and fined $1,000. Gerhardt was arrested in September 2001 at the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport following a passenger’s complaint that he overhead Gerhardt and another passenger making suspicious comments regarding the September 11 tragedy. Following his arrest, agents discovered that Gerhardt had a fraudulent pilot's license and medical certificates.
