Former Uncertified Airline Mechanic Convicted

Summary
Michaele S. Durgini, Everett, WA, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Seattle, WA, to making false statements to the FAA. He was charged with presenting a fraudulent FAA airframe and power plant certificate when he applied for employment with Continental Airlines. He was also charged with inspecting and repairing aircraft during his employment with the carrier from 1992 to 2000 and signing maintenance logs even though he was not certified. OIG agents arrested Durgini on January 30. He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 23.
