Report to Congress

Science in the Parks

Science "is the compass that guides our management actions and illuminates complex issues."

—NPS Director Jon Jarvis

When the Natural Resource Challenge was established, Congress requested that the National Park Service report on what the Service accomplished with those funds. In response, the National Park Service sends an annual report to Congress detailing accomplishments relating to the Natural Resource Challenge and other funds.

The report is compiled from material submitted by parks, regions, networks, and Washington program offices. It is assembled after the fiscal year ends on September 30 and goes through a rigorous review and approval process, emerging as a final document the following year. Explore current and past reports to learn how the National Park Service is working to protect our nation's natural resources.
