FMCSA to Hold Fifth Hours-of-Service Listening Session at Mid-America Truck Show

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced it will hold a fifth public listening session on hours-of-service requirements on Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, Kentucky. The Mid-America Truck Show is one of the commercial trucking community's largest annual gatherings, attracting over 80,000 attendees.

In January, the FMCSA held hours-of-service listening session in Arlington, Virginia; Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; Los Angeles, California; and Davenport, Iowa. The goal of the listening sessions is to gather a broad range of comments, ideas and relevant research as the agency prepares for rulemaking on hours-of-service requirements for property-carrying commercial drivers.

Each person attending may attend the trucking show and the listening session free of charge, if they pre-register online with the Mid-America Trucking Show organizer at http://truckingshow.com/attendee/attendee-registration. Attendees pre-registering must print out their confirmation page after registering and present it at the Kentucky Exposition Center door to be admitted free. Otherwise, admission to the trucking show on March 26 will be $5.00.
