| ART has developed a set of "roadmaps" as a planning tool to help prioritize FMCSA-wide analysis, research, and technology programs. The current roadmaps are an extension of FMCSA's Research and Technology 5-Year Strategic Plan that established the Agency's strategic research and technology priorities for FY 2005 - FY 2009. The Plan was guided by a steering committee of representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation, states, and industry. Roadmaps represent initiatives that are highlighted in the Strategic Plan and are considered priorities for funding. These roadmaps are updated annually during the FMCSA budget process.
