2009 PROPERTY TAX BILLS

The 2009 El Paso consolidated property tax bills will be sent out starting October 5, 2009 and are due upon receipt. Payments received on or after February 2, 2010 will be delinquent.

Payments may be made through the mail, at any Wells Fargo Branch in El Paso County with an accompanying bill, at the tax office located at City Hall, at any County Tax Office with accompanying bill and full payment, or at our website www.elpasotexas.gov with a credit card. The County Tax Office will NOT be accepting cash.

Because the San Elizario and Canutillo Independent School District are holding rollback elections on November 3, 2009, the tax bills for these areas will be sent out after November 3, 2009. For more information call the Consolidated Tax Office at (915) 541-4054 or visit the City of El Paso Website at www.elpasotexas.gov.
Bert Williams Downtown Santa Fe Transfer Center Opens
Sunday, Sept. 27

Sun Metro’s temporary boarding site on Franklin Avenue will be moving to its new, permanent home, the Bert Williams Downtown Santa Fe Transfer Center, 601 Santa Fe, on Sunday, Sept. 27.

Riders who traditionally unload or board buses at the temporary Franklin Avenue boarding location will be able to enjoy a modern and spacious facility at the new Downtown Transfer Center. The center, which boasts an enclosed waiting area with cooling and heating conveniences, will have real-time information displays to help riders time their trips instantly, large shade canopies, a store front, a ticket vending machine and other amenities including free Wi-Fi.

In addition to the various services, the $8 million center also boasts an impressive restaurant space giving Sun Metro riders a chance to grab a bite to eat or drink while waiting for buses or friends.

In late July, the El Paso City Council unanimously approved the naming of the Downtown Transfer Center as the Bert Williams Downtown Santa Fe Transfer Center, after former Mayor Bert Williams who is most-noted for successfully introducing an anti-discrimination ordinance in El Paso, two years before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
