Attorney General Jim Hood, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, Shred-it, President/CEO John O’Hara of the Better Business Bureau, BancorpSouth,  Credibility (formerly the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Jackson), and Mississippi State University Extension Service are pleased to announce Mississippi’s SEVENTH Community Shred Day, Friday March 8 and Saturday March 9 in six locations throughout the state.

On the Wrong Path

Today, the FTC announced a settlement with Path — a social networking site that promoted itself as a different kind of social network. Primarily available to users through a mobile app, Path claimed that it “should be private by default. Forever. You should always be in control of your information and experience.”

No more bill shock? Help keep your cell phone company honest

Cell phone companies have pledged to help you avoid surprise charges on your bill.

Now we need your help to make sure they keep their promises.

First, a little background: Twenty percent of cell phone customers surveyed by Consumer Reports in 2011 had been jolted by an unexpected charge on a bill during the previous year. More than a third said the additional cost was $30 or more.
