Chief Master Sergeant James A. Laurent is the Command Chief
Master Sergeant, 35th Fighter Wing, Misawa Air Base, Japan.
He serves as the senior enlisted advisor to the 35th Fighter Wing
and Misawa Air Base installation commander on a 13,000-person
base supporting eight associate units representing all four
services and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. He is
responsible for the health, welfare and morale of the enlisted
force on the installation which is comprised of two fighter
squadrons, 35 support agencies and more than 4,000 personnel.
Chief Laurent is the communications link between the installation
commander and the enlisted community, ensuring the
commander's programs and policies are understood and advising
the commander of important enlisted force issues and concerns.
He also provides critical interface with the senior enlisted
leadership of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.

Chief Laurent entered the Air Force in June 1986. His
background includes various duties in Security Forces and as a
First Sergeant at the squadron, group, NAF, and MAJCOM
levels. His assignments include bases in Virginia, Ohio, and
South Carolina as well as overseas assignments in the
Philippines, Germany, Hawaii, and Japan. He has also deployed
to Turkey, Pakistan, and Kuwait in support of Operations
NORTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI
FREEDOM. Prior to assuming his current position, Chief Laurent
was the Commandant of the Erwin Professional Military
Education Center, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan.
