Spending Cuts & Debt
With our national debt at $14 trillion and counting, spending in Washington is dangerously out of control. In recent years, we have witnessed Washington engage in some of the most fiscally irresponsible policymaking in the history of this country. In Congress, Jim is working tirelessly to restore conservatism and accountability to our government. He supports across-the-board spending cuts and, over time, believes that we need to reduce total spending to 20% of our GDP. One of Jim’s first votes in Congress was to cut his own Congressional budget. By voting to cut every Congressional office budget by five percent, Jim was showing American families that he is serious about ending the job-killing Washington spending binge and making the tough choices needed to put our nation back on a path of fiscal responsibility.
