Scheduling Your Visa Interview

The Consular Section advises students who wish to begin study in the United States in September 2009 to initiate the visa application process approximately eight months in advance. This means that during the month of January, students should go to the appointment website and purchase a Personal Identification Number (PIN) which will allow you to choose an appointment date. This PIN will give you 3 scheduling opportunities so that you can schedule an appointment and reschedule it up to 2 additional times if necessary. 

Students should request an I-20 from their school and pay the SEVP fee.  If a student has not received an I-20 and has no SEVP receipt, he/she should still initiate these appointment procedures.  If a student does not have their SEVP number at the time of filling out the online application form, they should enter in “N” followed by nine zeros (for example N000000000).*
