About USTDA

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency helps companies create U.S. jobs through the export of U.S. goods and services for priority development projects in emerging economies. USTDA links U.S. businesses to export opportunities by funding project planning activities, pilot projects, and reverse trade missions while creating sustainable infrastructure and economic growth in partner countries.

Making Global Local

Making Global Local is an initiative designed to connect towns and cities across the country with USTDA's export-promoting programs. Over the past year, U.S. companies have increasingly targeted emerging economies as export destinations. Given its unique role, USTDA is perfectly positioned to support U.S. businesses interested in entering or expanding their presence in developing and middle-income countries.

The aim of Making Global Local is to increase the number of U.S. businesses that are benefitting from the Agency's programs in order to expand their exports to emerging markets and create high-paying jobs in their communities. To accomplish this goal, USTDA is forging new and innovative partnerships with business development and trade promotion organizations across the country.

USTDA Facts and Figures

- During FY 2011, USTDA identified U.S. companies in 38 states and the District of Columbia that benefitted from projects supported by Agency activities

- USTDA identified a record $4.9 billion dollars in U.S. exports that were supported by the Agency's programs in FY 2011

- USTDA has focused its program on three priority sectors: transportation, clean energy, and information and communications technology

Staff Corner

Paul Marin is USTDA's Regional Director for sub-Saharan Africa. He recently participated in the AGOA Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum where he spoke on the Agency's efforts to improve Africa's infrastructure for trade.

Sub-Saharan Africa Featured in June

As part of its goal to highlight priority sectors and regions each month, USTDA selected June to showcase the sub-Saharan Africa region. Throughout the month, USTDA utilized its website and social media platforms to provide info on export opportunities in the region as well as a webinar, which will be offered on June 27th.

USTDA Director Participates in Framework for Strategic Economic and Commercial Cooperation in Turkey

ANKARA – U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Director Leocadia I. Zak participated today in the second ministerial meeting of the Framework for Strategic Economic and Commercial Cooperation (FSECC) in Turkey. The meeting was co-chaired by Acting U.S. Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk as well as Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan and Turkish Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan.
