Reduce infant and maternal mortality by improving the health of women and children under five. This project trains professional staff at departments of health to deliver MCH services and teach schoolchildren sanitation and hygiene skills.

To improve the health of women and children under five and thus reduce infant and maternal mortality, the project

  • Engages local communities, especially pregnant women, mothers of children under five, their mothers-in-law and husbands in health discussions and links them with maternal and child services;
  • Trains staff at the departments of health to deliver quality maternal and child health services, helps plan and evaluate activities;
  • Teaches schoolchildren sanitation and hygiene skills.
