IKEA Opens 38th USA Store in Centennial, CO

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA broke ground for its 38th retail location in the United States in April, 2010. The store, opened in Fall 2011, created over 500 construction jobs and has created 400 permanent jobs and 80 food retail employment opportunities.

The 415,000 square foot facility will be built on 13.5 acres near Interstate 25.

IKEA Opens Manufacturing Facility in Danville, VA

Swedwood, IKEA’s manufacturing subsidiary, opened its first factory in the United States in Danville, Virginia, in May 2008. The factory was expected to produce a variety of wood-based IKEA furniture products and create over 700 new local jobs by the project’s completion.

The 930,000 square-foot Swedwood furniture manufacturing facility was built on 209 acres in Cane Creek Centre, a joint industrial park of the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County.
