Colonel Howard L. Eissler is Commander, 111th Fighter Wing, Pennsylvania Air National Guard, located at Willow Grove Air Reserve Station, Horsham, Pennsylvania.
Colonel Eissler graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1987 with a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and was commissioned as a second lieutenant the same year.
He completed undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Texas in 1988. Following his training, Colonel Eissler was assigned to the 85th Flying Training Squadron, Laughlin AFB, Texas, where he served as a T-37 Instructor Pilot.
Colonel Eissler began his tour with the 111th Fighter Wing in 1992 as an A/OA-10 Fighter Pilot. In 1999 he attended USAF Fighter Weapons Instructor Course at Nellis AFB, Nevada and served as the Squadron and Wing Weapons Officer from 1999 to 2003.
In 2003, he assumed command of the 103rd Fighter Squadron. Colonel Eissler became the Commander of the 111th Operations Group in 2005 before entering the Army War College. In 2007 he returned to the wing and resumed the position as Operations Group Commander. In 2011 he was selected as the Air Operations Commander to standup an AFFOR augmentation unit to support 3rd Air Force, Europe. Effective February 2012, Colonel Eissler assumed command of the 111th Fighter Wing, Willow Grove Air Reserve Station, Pennsylvania.
