Testimony

The IG testified before the Transportation Subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee regarding the Coast Guard’s modernization efforts and the agency’s budget request for FY 2002. In his testimony, the IG addressed: (1) the need for USCG and OMB to reconcile their respective capital budget targets for FY03 and beyond; (2) risk factors associated with USCG's plans for proceeding with the acquisition phase of the Deepwater project; (3) rising cost estimates for the National Distress and Response System Modernization project; and (4) staffing, training, and equipment deficiencies at USCG search and rescue stations.
