Air Force Reserve Command's 482nd Fighter Wing is the host unit at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla.  There are also tenant organizations that operate at Homestead Air Reserve Base, using the services and infrastructure of the Air Force Reserve installation.

The Air Force Reserve Command is one of ten Major Commands (MAJCOMS) in the U.S. Air Force. Within AFRC, there are three numbered air forces: 22nd Air Force, 10th Air Force and 4th Air Force. The 482nd Fighter Wing is assigned under 10th Air Force, headquartered at Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base Forth Worth, T.X.

The Department of the Air Force is headquartered in the Pentagon, Washington D.C. The service is organized in nine major commands throughout the world which provide combat aircraft, airlift, refueling, reconnaissance and other support to the Unified Combatant Commands.
