Whether seen from the vantage points of the steep-sided Koolaupoko mountain range, from the air or from the open sea, Mokapu Peninsula stands out as a place of great beauty. Before the Hawaiian Island’s exposure to the Western world in 1778, the spiritual beliefs and cultural practices of the Hawaiian people were intricately bound to the physical landscape of this place.
