Dr. Carolyn Kuranz received her Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan in 2009. She is currently an Assistant Research Scientist at the Center for Laser Experimental Astrophysical Research and the Center for Radiative Shock Hydrodynamics at the University of Michigan. Her research involves hydrodynamic instability and radiation hydrodynamics experiments at high-energy-density physics facilities. Dr. Kuranz's research is relevant to astrophysical systems, such as, the hydrodynamics instabilities that may develop in core-collapse supernovae or a radiative shocks in a supernova remnants. She has lead experiments at the Omega Laser Facility and National Ignition Facility and participated in experiments at the Trident Laser Facility and The Vulcan Laser Facility.
