[05/02/2011] There has been a great increase in user requests to the NSSL OnDemand User Interface as a result of the 27 April 2011 Tornado Outbreak in the Southeastern US. While we are restricted from offering access to non research or government users, we can provide the Google Earth(tm) KMZ file that has been circulated by NOAA.
The Google Earth KMZ file for the NSSL RotationTracks can be downloaded by clicking
RotationTrack1440min_20110428-085936.kmz
If you are interested in the Maximum Expected Size of Hail (MESH) swaths, you can download that
MESH_Max_1440min_20110428-085634.kmz
These two KMZ files span from 16 UTC on 27 April until 9 UTC on 28 April, 2011.
The images are created using the NSSL WDSSII Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor system. Please see the website http://wdssii.nssl.noaa.gov/ for more information about how these and other products are made. Also note that while we restrict access to the NSSL OnDemnd archive system, realtime Google Earth(tm) KMZ files are freely available for these and other products by going to http://wdssii.nssl.noaa.gov/?r=products.
