U.S. Embassy Welcomes Transition Announcement by President Karzai

The United States Embassy welcomes the announcement by President Karzai today naming the first districts and provinces for transition to an Afghan security lead in the coming months.  We congratulate President Karzai on this initial step toward a conditions-based transition by December 2014.  The United States reiterates its enduring commitment to the people of Afghanistan.
