Condemnation of Attacks in Khost and Nangarhar

The United States condemns in the strongest terms the suicide bombing yesterday in Khost province and roadside bomb attack in Nangarhar.  The attack in Khost killed eight Afghans, including two policemen, women and children, as they were crossing the Porozha Bridge.  The Taliban claimed responsibility for this attack which also injured more than 40 Afghans, demonstrating their lack of respect for human life and disregard for all Afghan citizens.  The attack in Nangarhar province killed three police officers, brave Afghans who gave their lives working toward a better, more secure Afghanistan.

Our thoughts are with the families of those killed in both attacks. The United States will continue to stand with our Afghan partners as they defend themselves against terrorism and build a more peaceful future.
