72nd Troop Carrier Squadron

The 434th Air Refueling Wing has a 70-year history dating to World War II. The 434th Troop Carrier Group was activated in 1943 and contained the 71st, 72nd, 73rd and 74th Troop Carrier Squadrons, all of which participated in the Allies invasion of Normandy, France, flying C-47 Skytrains.
