Gunnery Sergeant
Mark A. Lemstrom

Gunnery Sergeant Mark A. Lemstrom is a native of Port Orange, Florida. In February of 1995, he graduated Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.

Upon completion of Recruit Training, Private First Class Lemstrom attended the Basic Course of Instruction at the Armed Forces School of music in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While there, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.

In July of 1995, Lance Corporal Lemstrom was assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band as a trombone instrumentalist. While serving there he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.
In 1999, Gunnery Sergeant Lemstrom attended the Arranger Course at the Armed Forces School of music.

In 2000, Gunnery sergeant Lemstrom reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA Marine Band. While in California he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in music at CSU East Bay in Hayward.

In April of 2004, Gunnery Sergeant Lemstrom was assigned to the Albany Marine Band as the Small Ensemble Leader.

In July of 2007, Gunnery Sergeant Lemstrom attended The Senior Musicians Course at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA.

In April of 2008, Gunnery Sergeant Lemstrom attended the Instructor Advanced Academics Course at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA.

In July 2011, Gunnery Sergeant Lemstrom reported to his current duty assignment as the Small Ensemble Leader of the Marine Forces Pacific Band.

Gunnery Sergeant Lemstrom’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.
