Diane Leneghan Tomb Assumes Top Public Affairs Position at HUD

WASHINGTON - Housing and Urban Development Secretary Mel Martinez today swore in Diane Leneghan Tomb, as HUD's new Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs. Tomb, formerly senior vice president of communications at the Fannie Mae Foundation, was appointed by President Bush and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 22.

"Diane is a great addition for the Department because not only does she bring a wealth of public affairs knowledge and experience but she knows the housing industry," said Martinez. "She will be a tremendous asset to the Bush Administration's continuing efforts to expand homeownership, create affordable housing opportunities and protect the vulnerable."

HUD is the nation's housing agency committed to increasing minority homeownership, creating affordable housing opportunities for low-income Americans, supporting the homeless, elderly, people with disabilities and people living with AIDS. The Department also promotes economic and community development as well as enforces the nation's fair housing laws.
