AAR Reports Increased Weekly Rail Traffic

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 18, 2014 – The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported increased U.S. rail traffic for the week ending Sept. 13, 2014 with 300,388 total carloads, up 1.4 percent compared with the same week last year.

About every three hours, a person or vehicle is hit by a train as a result of unsafe behavior around railroad tracks.  To raise awareness around this issue, the AAR has partnered with Operation Lifesaver, Inc., the Federal Railroad Administration and the Federal Transit Administration, to launch a nationwide rail safety public education campaign, See Tracks? Think Train!
