WELCOME TO NCRI

The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) is a UK-wide partnership between the government, charity and industry which promotes co-operation in cancer research among the 22 member organisations for the benefit of patients, the public and the scientific community.

Cancer affects everyone. One third of people in the UK get cancer at some time in their lives and a quarter of all people die from it. This means that even if we don't have cancer ourselves, we know someone who does, or soon will.

These pages and the links from this site show you what we are doing and what has been achieved since we started work in 2001.

NCRI has now published its third strategic plan, building on more than a decade of successful partnership.

In our early years we successfully stimulated new research on a diverse range of topics and our current programme includes radiotherapy, early diagnosis and inequalities in cancer outcomes.

In this new strategic plan we will continue to develop this programme as well as setting ourselves new objectives that relate to our core business.
