Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Award Program
The Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Award Program provides a nine-month research grant for Brazilian doctoral students enrolled in Brazilian universities who wish to study or do research at U.S. institutions to complement their studies and research in Brazil. Study of the U.S. for Student Leaders
This program is designed for University students in their first three years of study who demonstrate commitment to their community, academic excellence, fluency in English and leadership skills. This is a five week program at a U.S. university where they focus on history and culture of the U.S. Recruitment generally begins in September.
The institute consists of a balanced series of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations and lectures complemented by educational travel to other parts of the United States, local site visits, and volunteer opportunities. It includes an academic residency component of four weeks and one week of travel, concluding with a 2-3 day program in Washington, D.C.

Community College Program
The purpose of this program is to develop professional skills for voc-tech students in the fields of Business Management and Administration, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Media, Information Technology, and Technology in Engineering, offering grants for one year. Brazil is still the only country in the Western Hemisphere to participate in this program.
Before initiating studies at the Community Colleges, the program includes a two-month intensive English language course in the U.S. to maximize English language acquisition, workshops to facilitate the process of navigating a different culture, and varied cultural activities. Prior to departing Brazil, grantees are given a pre-departure orientation in São Paulo, which provides information about cultural and academic differences between Brazil and US, practical orientation about living in the U.S. , the program’s objective, expectations and responsibilities.

International Fulbright Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Foreign Students
The Fulbright Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Foreign Students provides winners the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. at top U.S. universities. This award is designed to be the most prestigious international scholarship in science and technology.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Prize
The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Prize was established to encourage scholarship in American Studies by Brazilian undergraduate and graduate students in the social sciences. It awards $4,000 for the best doctoral thesis, $2,000 for the best master’s thesis, and $1,500 for the best undergraduate monograph in the area of American Studies.
