Summary:
School-Age Services (SAS) deliver before and after-school care during the school year and camps during vacations and school-out days. Provided by Child, Youth and Schools (CYS) Services, an U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM G-9 Family and MWR) program, care at School-Age Services is delivered during parental duty hours in Army facilities and in partnership with community schools for children K/1st grade through 5th/6th grade.
Eligibility:
Authorized Family members of active duty Soldiers are eligible for care at School-Age Services.
Benefit Highlights:
School Age Centers deliver before and after-school care during the school year for elementary grade youth, K/1st grade through 5th/6th grade (grades vary by installation). Care at School Age Centers bridge the gap between Child Development and Youth Programs and provide a caring and supervised atmosphere where children enjoy directed and self-directed activities.
Types of care include:
- Full-day: During school holidays, school vacations days, teacher-in-service days, and school closings.
- Part-day: Before and after school care.
- Seasonal: Programs are offered during spring and winters breaks and during the summer vacation. Full-Day care is available on non-school days.
CYS Services is committed to supporting the childcare needs of Army Families located on military installations or in areas where no military childcare is offered or is unavailable at installations due to high demand. CYS Services programs provide:
- Availability - CYS Services provides more than 400 Facilities and 2,800 Family Child Care Homes worldwide
- Affordability - CYS Services shares the cost of care with Army Families
- Accountability- CYS Services programs are inspected and certified by DoD
- Quality - CYS Services programs have trained staff and are accredited
