Army Reserve: Active Duty

Benefit Fact Sheet

Summary:

Family Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (FSGLI) is a program provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the spouses and dependent children of members insured under the Servicemembers Group Life Insurance (SGLI) program. It provides up to a maximum of $100,000 of insurance coverage for spouses and $10,000 for dependent children.

Eligibility:

FSGLI is available for the spouses and children of Army Reserve Soldiers on active duty who are covered under SGLI. Click here to see the SGLI fact sheet

Benefit Highlights:

The spouses of married Soldiers who are covered under SGLI are automatically covered under FSGLI. Spouses are covered for the maximum amount, unless the Soldier declines or reduces the coverage in writing. Spousal coverage is provided in increments of $10,000 up to a maximum of $100,000, not to exceed the amount of SGLI the insured member has in force. FSGLI premiums, which are in addition to the SGLI premiums, are based on the amount of coverage desired and the spouse's age, as shown on the following table:
