Summary:

The Army Child and Youth Services (CYS) provides affordable childcare programs for Army Families. Costs are typically based on rank and pay grade. Programs range from daycare facilities to sports and fitness programs.

Eligibility:

Children of State Active duty National Guard Soldiers are not eligible for most Child, Youth and School (CYS) Services programs but are eligible for Youth Services (YS) and Sports and Fitness programs.

Benefit Highlights:

The U.S. Army Child, Youth and School (CYS) Services mission is to reduce the conflict between mission requirements and parental responsibilities. Programs are designed to support the needs of Army Families located on military installations, in areas where there is no installation, or where services are unavailable at installations due to high demand. CYS focus is to:

  • Achieve and sustain QUALITY by pursuing nationally-recognized benchmarks and performance standards
  • Increase and sustain AVAILABILITY through on- and off- post child care options and supervised programs for youth
  • Maintain AFFORDABILITY for both Soldiers and the Army  

CYS Services programs include:

  • Youth Services (YS) - focus on middle school and teen programs, youth sponsorship, life skills and leadership, arts and recreation, and mentoring and education for youth grades 6 - 12.
  • Sports and Fitness- available for children up to 18 years of age and include team sports, individual sports, fitness and outreach.
