Lithuanian Driver’s License
Temporary visitors to Lithuania may drive with a U.S. driver‘s license. Permanent residents of Lithuania are required to obtain a local driving license. A person is permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania if he/she normally lives in the Republic of Lithuania at least 185 days in every calendar year. A student (a foreign national or person without citizenship) who has been studying in Lithuania for at least 6 months is also considered to be a person permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania.
Examination services are available only for persons permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania. To take the examination, a person must have declared his/her place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania.
The theory test is taken first, and when it is passed, the practical test follows.

To take the theoretical exam, an applicant must have the following:
- Identification document.
- Proof of graduation from a training course or document confirming that you are allowed to take a theory test following individual preparation (not required if you have a valid license from another country).
- Valid medical certificate confirming your health and psycho-physiological abilities to drive a motor vehicle of a particular category.
- Health attestation certificate confirming first aid training.
- Valid driving license, if any.
Theory and practical tests can be taken at any REGITRA examination center. The theoretical exam is taken through a computer program, which is available in Lithuanian, English or Russian. An applicant may use an interpreter for the practical exam.
After passing both exams, an applicant can apply for a driving license at any unit of REGITRA. Driving licenses are produced in a couple of days and delivered to the issuing unit of REGITRA selected by the applicant.
