Tester: Ken Salazar a ‘smart, responsible steward of our natural resources’

Senator wishes Interior Secretary well after four years in office

(KALISPELL, Mont.) - Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced that he will step down in March and return to his home state of Colorado:

"Ken Salazar is a smart, responsible steward of our natural resources who has served Montana and our nation well. Ken did an incredible job bringing a western perspective to this job, honoring American Indians, and managing our natural treasures while responsibly increasing our energy security. I wish him well as he returns home to Colorado."

Salazar, who served in the Senate with Tester before becoming Interior Secretary, led the department in establishing science-based conservation strategies while taking steps to increase the nation's renewable and conventional energy production.
