Colonel Joseph D. Martin is the Commander, 386th Expeditionary Mission Support Group, Southwest Asia. As the commander, he oversees six squadrons and more than 1,000 Airmen and contractors in a variety of career fields, including force support, security forces, logistics, contracting, communications and civil engineering.

Colonel Martin has served in a wide range of command and staff positions. Previous assignments include the Director of Resource Integration at Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, United States Forces Korea, Staff Action Officer, Speechwriter and Executive Officer in the Directorate of Installation and Logistics at the Pentagon, and Operations Officer for the Defense Energy Support Center Korea. He is a three-time squadron commander and deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Deny Flight and Iraqi Freedom.

Col Martin is from San Diego, Calif. He earned a Bachelor degree from the University of California, Riverside in 1989, and received his commission as a Distinguished Graduate from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
