Our mission in the visa section is to provide visa services to immigrant and non-immigrant visa applicants, both Djiboutian citizens and third country nationals.

Note – As of November 1, 2012, we only accept immigrant visa cases for applicants residing full-time in our consular district – the Republic of Djibouti. The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi has been designated as the primary processing post for all Somali applicants residing in Somalia, Somaliland and Puntland. Please find more information on the immigrant visa process at U.S. Embassy Nairobi by visiting their website. We will not accept cases in which the beneficiary cannot show proof of Djiboutian residency.

OPERATING HOURS

Non-Immigrant Visas

MONDAYS: 09:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Visa interview day, by appointment only. After submitting the electronic DS-160 application, please click here to request an appointment online. If you have questions not already covered on this website, please send your inquiry by email at DJI-CONS-NIV@state.gov. PLEASE COME ONE HOUR BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME ON YOUR INTERVIEW DATE to pay the fees and submit your application and supporting documents. 

NoteStudents are required to make a non-immigrant visa appointment in an available appointment slot. Regardless of the appointment time, however, they will be interviewed between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. because their appointments take longer than the allotted time.

THURSDAYS: 03:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m. Visa pick-up day.

Note - If you need to travel before the visa delivery day and you have a justifiable reason to do so, please tell the Consular Officer or staff accordingly, to facilitate an earlier pick-up date.

Immigrant Visas

TUESDAYS: Morning - Immigrant visa interviews, by appointment only.
If you have an inquiry, please submit your request by email at DJI-CONS-IV@state.gov. Please include the applicant/beneficiary’s name and case number on the subject line of your message.

SUNDAYS: 08:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Walk-in day. Please submit your full name and case number when appearing at the consular window.
