Rangan Gupta, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, has been ranked number 16 on the Research Papers in Economics (RePEc)’s list of top 200 young economists.
These rankings consider only the youngest economists registered with RePEc. Young is defined by the year of the first publication in any form in the categories of 5 years or less, 10 years or less, 15 years or less and 20 years or less. Prof Gupta received the ranking in the category of 10 years or less. |

The National Research Foundation (NRF) has approved the nomination of Professor Franzsen, Director of the African Tax Institute (ATI), for appointment to the Tier 1 Chair in Tax Policy and Governance at the University of Pretoria.
The South African Research Chairs Initiative (SARChI) is managed by the NRF under the auspices of the national Department of Science and Technology (DST). It is a strategic intervention of the South African government designed to attract and retain excellence in research and innovation at South African universities. Its primary goal is to increase scientific research capacity through the development of human capacity and stimulate the generation of new knowledge. |
