PromaxBDA Arabia Recognizes Alhurra On-Air Promotions

Springfield, Va. PromaxBDA Arabia announced today that Alhurra’s Senior Broadcast Designer Ahamed Batcha K won two awards for his work at the network. He was awarded the PromaxBDA Gold Award for Best Original Logo Design for Musawat (Arabic for Equality). He also won the Silver Award for Best Use of Arabic Typography for the open of Alhurra-Iraq’s Eighth Column. The program’s opening sequence use of Arabic typography was selected for its originality and effectiveness.

“Winning a Gold and Silver Award at PromaxBDA Arabia is a testament to the high quality of work produced by Alhurra’s promotions department. They are an incredibly creative and talented team that set the high standard for the look and feel of Alhurra’s programs,” stated Brian Conniff, President of MBN.

Earlier this year, Alhurra’s promotions department was recognized by the New York Festivals® International Television and Films awards for Alhurra Television’s video presentation highlighting the network’s coverage of the Egyptian Revolution. The presentation was named a finalist in PromaxBDA Arabia awards for Best Use of English Typography.

Additionally, Alhurra’s Senior On-Air Promotions Producer Haider Najeeb won the Best Program Sequence Silver Award for his previous work at Al Sharqiya.

The PromaxBDA Awards recognize excellence in on-air promotion, branding and advertising. Alhurra is operated by the non-profit corporation “The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc.” (MBN). MBN is financed by the U.S. Government through a grant from the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency.  The BBG provides oversight and serves as a firewall to protect the professional independence and integrity of the broadcasters.
