Public Affairs is the focal point for providing information on Keesler issues, programs and base events to Airmen, the community and members of the news media. The staff conducts base tours, provides speakers for civic organizations in the community, publishes the weekly newspaper, "Keesler News" and is the commander's liaison between the base and local media organizations. All media requests concerning Keesler people, programs and events must be coordinated through Public Affairs.

tabThe Public Affairs Mission
The U.S. Air Force engages in Public Affairs to provide trusted counsel to leaders; build, maintain, and strengthen Airman morale and readiness; enhance public trust and support; and achieve global influence and deterrence.

Public Affairs seeks to inform decision makers and communicate the Air Force's requirements, capabilities, actions and achievements to the world and keeps the Keesler community fully informed with complete and accurate information. Our programs are designed to increase public understanding of the Keesler training mission.

tabCivic Engagement
The objective of civic engagement is to create mutual acceptance, respect, appreciation and cooperation between the Air Force, Keesler and the local community.   PA responds to requests for Keesler participation in public events, tours of the base, speaker's bureau and public inquiries.  Air Force participation in community events is desirable and highly encouraged.
Community relations creates a mutual respect, acceptance, appreciation and cooperation between the Air Force and the community.
tabMedia Relations
Because the very existence of the Air Force depends on the "consent of the governed," we have a duty to keep the citizenry informed on our mission, our performance of that mission and our stewardship of public resources. To survive in the future, we must continue to earn the public's trust and support. In our society, the public depends on a free press to keep it informed. If we wish to maintain public support, we must learn to work effectively with the news media. " Meeting The Press" (Oct 2003) USAF Public Affairs Center of Excellence
