Course Description

A healthy athlete holding a red apple on the beach; Shutterstock.comThis course provides a variety of opportunities for students to experience alternative, non-competitive physical activities and nutrition concepts. It is designed to enable students in grades nine through twelve to develop the movement skill and fitness readiness and conceptual knowledge necessary to implement a doable Personal Physical Activity & Nutrition plan. Students participate in non-competitive physical activity and meal planning with pre and post physical activity and nutrition assessments. Students access information, obtain and analyze data, and develop their own personal physical activity and nutrition plan.

Course Objectives

Exercise and eat healthy; Shutterstock.comAs a result of successfully completing this course, you will:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of physical fitness activities 
  • Establish and maintain a proficient level of skilled performance 
  • Make physical activity an important part of their life 
  • Use the basic principles of skill analysis to improve previously acquired skills and to continue to learn new skills and activities
  • Demonstrate competence in leading and participating in group activities
