2012 Fishing Information:

Early Trout Season (Catch and Release Only - Streams Only): March 5 - April 29, 2012 and March 3 - April 28, 2013
Fishing on Streams: May 5 - September 30, 2012
Fishing on Lakes: May 5, 2012 through March 3, 2013
Fishing is open on the North Flowage (NF) for pan fish year-round. Note: North Flowage Bass fishing is from May 5, 2012 through March 3, 2013.

All persons fishing on Fort McCoy are required to have a Fort McCoy Fishing Permit and appropriate Wisconsin Fishing license (with trout stamp if fishing for trout).

Children (under 16 years old) fishing with a state licensed angler who possesses a Wisconsin Fishing License and Fort McCoy Fishing Permit are not required to purchase a Fort McCoy Fishing Permit. Fish caught by the child/children are included in the accompanying license/permit holder's daily bag limit. Children fishing independently, or who would like their own bag limit, are required to purchase a Fort McCoy Youth Fishing Permit.

Please refer to the Fort McCoy Fishing Regulations (see link in right-hand column) for bag, possession, and size limits.

All seasons, dates and prices are subject to change by Fort McCoy authorities.

Non-quota permits for Small Game, Archery, and Fishing, are sold through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) Automated License Issuance System (ALIS). Permits can be purchased at any authorized WDNR ALIS vendor throughout Wisconsin including WDNR Service Centers, Fort McCoy Post Exchange (military ID required), and Fort McCoy Pine View Campground. Fort McCoy permits are also available through the WDNR Online Licensing Center at http://dnr.wi.gov/. Permits are not sold through the Permit Sales Office.


All applicants selected for Fort McCoy quota hunts will be notified by mail and then must purchase/possess the appropriate Wisconsin hunting license/stamps and Fort McCoy permits.

Fort McCoy has a modified 9-day gun-deer season that is referred to as a 2-2-5.  This season incorporates 2 days of buck only (Saturday and Sunday), 2 days of either sex (Monday and Tuesday), concluded by 5 days of buck only (Wednesday through Sunday).  Fort McCoy is a separate Deer Management Unit and issues its own Hunter Choice Permits. State of Wisconsin Bonus Tags and Hunter Choice Permits are not valid on Fort McCoy.


GAME LINE INFORMATION

The Game Line recording, (608) 388-4263, lists hunting areas that are closed on any particular day. The Game Line listing will be updated by Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security by 3:30 p.m. each Monday afternoon and again by 3:30 p.m. each Friday afternoon. The Fort McCoy Police Department will post information at the Hunter Information Point. Fort McCoy reserves the right to update hunting area closures at any time if needed. ALL hunters and anglers are required to call the Game Line daily at (608) 388-4263 for any changes.


Fort McCoy hunting regulations and maps will be available at the Fort McCoy Visitor Control Center, Permit Sales Office (Bldg 2168), Hunter Information Point, and on the Fort McCoy website at www.mccoy.army.mil (except for hunting maps).


WISCONSIN CONCEALED CARRY LAW

Wisconsin has passed a law allowing individuals to carry a concealed weapon with the proper permit. However, in accordance with Army Regulation 190-11 para 4-5a, possession of a concealed weapon is prohibited on Fort McCoy. Carrying a concealed weapon will result in criminal prosecution, fines, revocation or suspension of hunting, fishing, trapping and firewood cutting privileges, and/or other disciplinary action.
